I.V. Sedation is when a drug, usually of anti anxiety variety, is administered in the blood system during dental treatment.  I.V. Sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what's going on.  In addition, the drugs used produce either partial or complete memory loss (amnesia).  As a result, time appears to pass by quickly with no memory of the appointment.
